Over the weekend, the Kapuso  network’s “Sunday All Stars” studio was converted into a teeming relief center—with celebrities shedding glitz and glamour, buckling down to work for all their kababayan affected by Supertyphoon “Yolanda.”

In another corner, Marian Rivera was repacking bags of rice.

Other GMA 7 stars—from Tom Rodriguez to Jestoni Alarcon, from Dingdong Dantes to Mark Herras—likewise took breaks from their busy schedules, to participate in the network’s relief efforts.

They front-lined a special dubbed “Tibay ng Pusong Pilipino, a GMA 7 Telethon” on Nov. 17 (aired in the time slot of “Sunday All Stars”).

While its singers and actors performed onstage, the station’s news and public affairs personalities reported updates from affected areas in Central Philippines.

It was a day of hope and good old- fashioned bayanihan.

“Tibay ng Pusong Pilipino” is a joint undertaking of the GMA Kapuso Foundation and Dantes’ Yes Pinoy Foundation.

As of Nov. 18, 5 p.m., the GMA Kapuso Foundation has received P131,584,180.26 in cash and P7,087,370.14 worth of goods.

Meanwhile, hosts of the GMA 7 morning show “Unang Hirit” are auctioning off their personal belongings (designer clothes, shoes, bags, accessories), to raise funds for GMA Kapuso Foundation’s relief efforts for Yolanda survivors.

The items were donated by mainstays Arnold Clavio, Rhea Santos, Connie Sison, Ivan Mayrina, Suzi Entrata-Abrera, Lyn Ching, Pia Arcangel, Luane Dy, Atty. Gaby Concepcion, Olen Juarez-Lim, Monica Verallo and Lhar Santiago.
