MANILA, Philippines – Tony Bourdain returns this November with the final season of ANTHONY BOURDAIN: THE LAYOVER, sharing his 20 years of world travel expertise with TLC viewers. Premiering every Wednesday at 10:00 p.m., the series provides tips and tricks on how to maximise the enjoyment of layover experiences in iconic US, Asian, South American and European cities with Bourdain as guide and concierge. ANTHONY BOURDAIN: THE LAYOVER encores every Monday at 10:00 p.m. and Thursday at 2:00 p.m.

As a seasoned traveller who has traversed all corners of the globe many times over, Tony has had plenty of time to kill in some of the world’s biggest airport hubs. But instead of hanging out at the airport or sitting in an airport hotel, he sets out to explore each city with the limited time he has there, turning each transit into a new travel opportunity.

Constantly on the move, he connects with the locals, explores the sights, samples the local cuisine and soaks up the culture.

Each hour-long episode in this 10-part series shows viewers how to take advantage of a layover by cutting right to the good stuff in some of the world’s cities. In this new season, Tony stops over at Atlanta, Dublin, New Orleans, Paris, Philadelphia, Sao Paulo, Seattle, Taipei and Toronto, doing the things he knows and loves best with less than 48 hours. He gives viewers his quick hit list – from dive bars to five stars – for an action-packed adventure.

FEATURED STORIES

Facing the enemy of time and distance, Tony gathers local intel wherever he goes and attempts to see as much as he can in the limited time he has, getting off the beaten path for something unique.  His itinerary includes touring the famed night markets, soaking in the city’s view from the second tallest building and trying his hand at shrimping in Taipei; then savouring authentic dimsum and Mexican takeout in Toronto. In Philadelphia, he spends his entire trip doing everything else but trying what they’re best known for – their Philly cheesesteak; while in Paris, he sips coffee at a café like a local, observes the art of making bread and indulges himself by shopping for a duck press. He takes in the artisanal delights of Seattle, sees the city from a seaplane and goes on a not-so-family-friendly tour of the city’s historical underbelly; and in Sao Paulo, he checks into an eccentric boat-shaped hotel before checking out street graffiti with celebrated artist Speto. In Atlanta, he goes skeet shooting, experiences the famed 10 o’clock burger at Holeman & Finch before wrapping up his visit at the legendary Clermont Lounge.

Where can you find the best hot dogs and Italian beef sandwiches in Chicago, or go for a quick swim in Dublin? What drink is New Orleans famous for? Experience each city from Tony Bourdain’s eclectic culinary and cultural perspective along with his personal recommendations.

So the next time you find yourself stuck at Taiwan’s Taoyuan International Airport or Charles De Gaulle International in Paris, fret not. ANTHONY BOUDAIN: THE LAYOVER will provide you with Tony’s super-curated travel guide of the spots to hit and what to see, eat, and do in each city. Whether you are an armchair traveller, gastrotourist or a road warrior and jetsetter like Tony, get inspired by his excursions and immerse yourself in food, drink and fun every week.
