Arturo Cairel, OFW: “My wish list for an eventful and happy TV viewing: That child actors on teleseryes utter lines that children actually speak in conversation. More often than not, they are required to mouth (stilted) dialogue that isn’t age-appropriate.
“Mestizo-looking actors turn me off when they’re cast as laborers or farmers. Production people make them look funny by applying body makeup that darkens their skin tone—but, wait until they perspire! I laughed heartily when this happened to Vina Morales in a recent episode of ‘Maria Mercedes.’
“I also look forward to a drama featuring Gabby and KC Concepcion. I’d love to see them in a highly charged dramatic confrontation. Lastly, how about casting Nora Aunor and Coco Martin as mother and son? I’m sure that’ll be an explosive combination!”
Other notes:
Claire Masilungan, telemarketer: “I have been a fan of Isabelle Daza even before she started hosting and acting. Her beauty is distinctly Asian—she’s quiet, elegant and mysterious. I also find her very smart, like her mom—I think she would make a lovely international beauty queen, too!”
Thelma Ledda, televiewer: “I fully understand Robin Padilla’s anger and disgust over the lawmakers who are involved in the pork-barrel controversy—and rightly so, because he’s among our more diligent taxpayers.”
Rose Generoso, housewife: “‘The Voice of the Philippines’ was a letdown for me, because its finals turned out to be a shouting match more than a singing competition! I was expecting the judges to emphasize that birit isn’t always synonymous to good singing—to no avail. I hope the next edition features less birit-prone contestants.”
