Our viewing intelligencer for this weekend leads off with the film, “Linsanity,” which is a docu-drama about Chinese American basketball star, Jeremy Lin. He’s on top of the sporting world, but it wasn’t always so—in fact, he had to go through a very rough patch when the usual racist suspects razzed him and dismissed his potential due to his ethnicity.
Thus, the film shapes up as an inspiring saga that we can all take heart from—so, catch the film bio if you can.
Still on the upbeat updraft, watch out for new shows debuting on TV5 on Oct. 14—Sharon Cuneta’s “Madame Chairman” sitcom, and “Let’s Ask Pilipinas,” hosted by Aga Muhlach.
Also on our viewing list is the first telecast on Oct. 8 of “Super Fun Night” with Rebel Wilson on ETC. And, please note that the new season of “The Big Bang Theory” made its debut last week with a whopping 20 million viewers in rapt and delighted attendance!
Unproductive
Now, on the “downbeat” and “downdraft” side of the TV-film picture, we note with dismay the increase of programs that turn out to be predictable and unproductive viewing fare. They include too many new reality shows about supposed ghostly apparitions and other superstitions, sharks, squabbling housewives who “treat” viewers to their nasty, messy, in-your-face hissy fits, and too many flaming fairies on the tube, each trying to eclipse the others on point of viciousness and volume!
