Filipina in Mrs. Globe tilt

/ 08:06 PM August 27, 2011

She got the news on Facebook. Morena Carla Cabrera-Quimpo learned she was to represent the Philippines in the Mrs. Globe pageant through a private message from the national organizers.

“I knew the preparations would be tedious, Quimpo told Philippine Daily Inquirer before she left for California for the tilt, which is being held today (Sunday). “But I went ahead and accepted it.” She is competing with 40 finalists.

When Megastar Productions sent out the call to married Filipino women for the  international pageant, Quimpo was among the 100 women who responded. She said she was drawn to the competition’s advocacy. “It supports the W.I.N. Foundation in America, which promotes the empowerment of abused women,” she said.

Quimpo, 36, is chief executive officer of her own EPI Marketing Communications Inc. She was 1991 Miss Teen Philippines first runner-up, 1994 Binibining Pilipinas Miss Photogenic and 1995 Mutya ng Pilipinas-Queen of the Year.  Armin Adina
