Evie Roque is a Warhol-inspired digital artist—and proud of it. One can divide her life into chapters, each one more eventful than the next—and now, it’s made even more colorful by the digital art medium.
When the computer was introduced at the Lincoln Center in New York in 1985, Andy Warhol created one of the earliest computer-manipulated images, resulting in his breakthrough Campbell Soup can art, which inspired Roque many years later to also turn to her computer and discover its marvels. —That is how she “discovered” Warhol.
Evie has been dabbling in Warhol-inspired digi-art for years now. When people began commissioning her to create something for them, she was initially perplexed. But, she saw it as a challenge as well as an opportunity for artistic growth—and a flourishing, new career was born for my talented college chum!
