Free Mali!
Before they hit the Big Dome for their joint concert next month, Aiza Seguerra and Charice are demonstrating the “power of two” by joining People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta) Asia’s campaign to transfer Mali—the solitary and ailing elephant at the Manila Zoo—to a lush sanctuary in Thailand.

They are the latest stars to pose for “Free Mali” mug shots.
“Mali [was] sentenced to a life of loneliness, misery and neglect,” says Aiza. “In light of the suffering she has endured at the Manila Zoo, the proposal to bring in more elephants is outrageous. They would have to endure the same cramped, concrete conditions; lack of exercise; and improper veterinary care as Mali had for the past 36 years.”
Affleck as Batman
LOS ANGELES—Hollywood actor Ben Affleck will replace Christian Bale in the next Batman film, Warner Bros. Pictures said.
Affleck will appear in a Batman-Superman movie slated for release in 2015, on the heels of this summer’s Superman hit “Man of Steel.”

Bale, who played the title role in Christopher Nolan’s “Batman” trilogy, left the doors wide open for a new successor.
“We knew we needed an extraordinary actor to take on one of DC Comics’ most enduringly popular super heroes, and Affleck certainly fits that bill and then some,” said Warner Bros. president Greg Silverman in a statement.
The film, which is not yet titled, will be directed by Zack Snyder, who megged “Man of Steel” starring Henry Cavill.
Cavill will appear alongside Affleck in the 2015 film.
“Ben provides an interesting counter-balance to Henry’s Superman. He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retains the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne,” Snyder said.

Affleck is no stranger to superheroes, having played Matt Murdock in the 2003 flop “Daredevil.”
