The annual Alay Lakad Para Sa Kabataan Day that benefits out-of-school youths will be on Sept. 1. The walk-for-a-cause event, which will be held at the Quirino Grandstand at 7 a.m., is now on its 41st year.

According to its president, Frank Evaristo, this year’s theme, “Lakad Bayan Para sa Kapayapaan,” signifies the foundation’s hope that the nation would be aware of the plight of the out-of-school youth and support the disadvantaged sectors of our society.

The nationwide endeavor is the signature fund-raising project of Alay Lakad Foundation Inc. It calls for the participation of government agencies, the private sector, business establishments, local government units, and socio-civic organizations.

This year’s lead organization is the Rotary International District 3810, under the leadership of Gov. Karen Tamayo as overall chair of the National Coordinating Committee, which also includes Lions International, JCI Philippines and Kiwanis International.

To date, Alay Lakad has assisted more than 60,000 out-of-school beneficiaries with scholarship grants, education assistance and livelihood opportunities. To donate, call 522-6134 or 0909 750-4733.
