MANILA, Philippines—In the end, there can only be one.
The title of Ultimate Talentado in the farewell edition of the TV5 reality search “Talentadong Pinoy” went to a yoyo master.
Spyro Marco bested six other Hall of Famers to win the top prize, which comes with P1 million cash and a house and lot.
Spyro also won the Texters’ Choice honor.
Spyro, who was born in the United States, related that he first saw a master performing tricks with a Chinese yoyo in DisneyWorld. The young man soon mastered the Chinese yoyo. It was his grandmother who encouraged him to audition for the TV5 talent quest, which ended its five-year run Sunday night.
The other contestants in the finals included power-belter Sor Apao; illusionist JB de la Cruz or Laserman; soulful singer Rina Forbes; contortionists Larvae; hip-hop dance troupe Nocturnal; and WCOPA (World Championship of Performing Arts) champ Haina Udin.
The seven contestants battled it out in the finale held at the Cuneta Astrodome—a show that was hosted by Ryan Agoncillo and featured major stars like Sharon Cuneta, Derek Ramsay, Lucy Torres-Gomez, Joey de Leon, Edu Manzano and Judy Ann Santos.
