How about a glammed-up Nora Aunor?

AUNOR. No more underdog roles?

Venus de Jesus, teacher: “I’m a Noranian who also happens to follow her archrival’s career. Recently, I watched Vilma Santos deglamorize herself in the Cinemalaya indie, ‘Ekstra,’ in which she plays a bit player and, I must say, I was impressed with the way she  ‘reinvented’ herself.

“If Ate Vi can do that, perhaps Ate Guy can do the opposite—stop portraying underdog roles and play bitchy socialites or ruthless fashionistas, instead. I’ve never seen her in those roles, but I think she can pull them off and surprise us with a fresh take on a role that’s often assigned to glamorous mestizas!”

Other notes:

Francisco Pedro, professor: “Recently, I watched ‘KrisTV’ with wonder when it featured KC Concepcion as a mermaid. I was awed with the way the Megastar’s daughter moved underwater with ease, even with a fishtail, which naturally limited her mobility. Yet, KC swam gracefully—like a professional! KC is truly multitalented—she excels at whatever she puts her heart into!”

Estranged couple

Marietta Inoferio, housewife: “Local morning television programs never fail to amaze me. As if news about disasters, accidents and the like weren’t bad enough, there was this recent interview with the lawyers of an estranged show biz couple discussing the rape case filed by the wife against her husband.

“I was having breakfast with my kids and, naturally, the sensitive topic of marital rape caught their attention. I am no prude, but topics like rape shouldn’t be discussed on daytime shows that children can watch freely—maybe in late-night programs?”

Liza Guevarra, televiewer: “I had a hard time figuring out the name of an actor in the afternoon soap, ‘Maghihintay Pa Rin.’ Then, I remembered that he was Dion Ignacio, who was discovered on ‘StarStruck.’ His leaner body complements his new look. Even more notable is the fact that he has grown as an actor.”

Dandin Ranillo: “Regarding ‘Palad Ta Ang Nagbuot,’ the Visayan movie I directed (starring boxer Nonito Donaire), I was able to secure a new playdate, on Nov. 20. Kindly inform Fans’ Day reader, Steven Dy (of Cagayan de Oro), and those waiting for the return of Visayan movies. Please support it!”
