MANILA, Philippines— ABS-CBN has until the end of MTRCB office hours Tuesday, at 7pm, to submit the proposed remedial measures for its Sunday children’s show, “Goin’ Bulilit,” Eugenio Villareal, head of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) told the INQUIRER on Tuesday.
The measures shall include appointment of a resident child psychology expert (psychiatrist or psychologist), a post review mechanism at least for the mandatory three-month period or closer collaboration between MTRCB and “Goin’ Bulilit,” Villareal added.
He said, “Upon receipt, our Ad Hoc Committee shall make a ruling thereon. We have emphasized that in cases like this, the best interest and well-being of the child (whether performer or viewer) is paramount.”
“In fairness, the conference on Monday was marked by the network’s desire to cooperate, even while it was very candid and challenging,” Villareal said.
“It was the first time that we were aided by a volunteer child psychiatrist provided by the Philippine Psychiatric Association, with which MTRCB recently signed a MOA of cooperation. The conference was also marked by the showing of a short advocacy video on the theme ‘what children see, children do’,” he said.
