BEVERLY HILLS, California— Simon Cowell said the mostly female judges’ panel for “The X Factor” reflects what he calls the “girls’ world” of today’s music business.

When Fox’s “X Factor” returns in September, Cowell will share judging duties with returning panelist Demi Lovato, and newcomers Kelly Rowland and Paulina Rubio.

Cowell said Thursday during a Television Critics Association panel that the music charts are dominated by women.

Amid reports that Cowell and a married New York socialite are expecting a baby, the “X Factor” producer was asked if his schedule would be affected by having a child. After joking that he hadn’t read the papers, Cowell said he has to keep the matter private.
