It’s simply about making people get up and dance. Pioneer Pinoy rocker and guitar man Ramon Jacinto bet on this and, tonight, he celebrates the 27th anniversary of his RJ Bistro.
“The roots of rock ’n’ roll is alive in the Bistro,” RJ says by way of explaining the club’s long and happy life. “The live music that people experience here is the source of most music genres that we hear today. It makes them happy; it makes them want to dance.”
Tonight’s rock ’n’ roll party at RJ Bistro’s present home—the lower level of Dusit Thani Hotel in Makati—features guest groups Band of Brothers, Cool Change and Rockin’ ’60s, and bossa nova artist Sitti.
The show starts at 8:30 with a performance by the young alternative band Dagsin, and culminates with a strictly dance-music set by the house band led by RJ.
