It was while watching Disney’s animated musicals that Anna Dinnah Migallos fell in love with singing. So, she auditioned for the Philippine High School for the Arts.
At PHSA in Makiling, she majored in vocal performance, under Prof. Cecilia Ongsiako-Valeña.
Teacher Betchie, as she is fondly called, was supportive and inspired Anna to work hard and develop her appreciation for opera, which she decided to pursue at UP College of Music.
Then, she took time off from college and headed to New York, where she trained with Evelyn Mandac, the renowned Filipina opera singer. After more than a year there, she knew it was time to come home and finish college.
Preparation
After graduating, she set her sights on the Royal College of Music (RCM). But, getting accepted wasn’t easy—it took months of rigorous preparation before she headed for London. The good news: She made it!
Anna is grateful for the support of her mother, a lawyer. She believes in her only child, and supports her fully as she pursues her musical dream!
