Diva’s temper tantrum cost P150,000

KIM Chiu

This tantrum cost a production company a small fortune. Drama Star is notorious for being not just a prima donna, but also a mean-spirited bully.

Production Staffer, who used to admire DS, witnessed the star’s inner monster unleashed when a colleague brought her costumes to the set—a top executive’s office in a very luxurious building.

DS threw a hissy fit because her clothes were not ironed properly. She was so livid, she threw a Chinese vase to the floor—a ceramic antique owned by the company that rented out the office. PS almost fainted upon learning that the vase cost P150,000.

DS lost a fan in PS, who swore never to work with the diva again.

Million-peso delay

Here’s another one: Senior Actress is driving co-workers bonkers. She failed to show up twice on the set of a project.

Worried Producer begged SA to honor the commitment because the delay had already cost the production millions of pesos.

Insiders claim that SA was sickly, but those in the know suspect that SA was sidelined by Controversial Friend, who’s perceived as a bad influence on her.

Closet witch

Glamorous Star looks sweet and saintly on camera, but a spy asserts otherwise. GS is said to be a manipulative closet witch, who often invents stories so her perceived rivals would look bad in public. However, she has been outed by some friends who now avoid her like the plague.

JC de Vera

Chopper date

Pretty Celeb is unhappy with her husband, who’s not a generous provider and instead encourages her to work for her own money.

Rich Guy has been eyeing PC, though. RG even dumped Sophisticated Socialite to pursue her. Flattered, PC agreed to a lunch date. RG made arrangements to pick up PC, who was shocked when she was to meet RG at the rooftop of a building.

Turned out, RG hired a chopper to whisk off PC to a romantic hideaway out of town. (Sigh.)

Premature drumbeating

Aggressive Studio’s execs announced that Veteran Actress would appear in a coming project. Problem was, AS had yet to start negotiations with VA.

AS didn’t even know VA’s phone number at the time they made the bold announcement. Luckily, VA agreed and signed the dotted line to the tune of P100,000 per work day.

DYAN Castillejo

Advocacy journalism

Before the TV appearances, the multimillion donations and endorsements, the Cobra Philippine Dragon Boat Federation Team was the focus of Dyan Castillejo’s report in the ABS-CBN advocacy journalism program, “Krusada.”

After the feature aired on July 14, things became so much better for the team. Help from the private sector started pouring in.

The Filipino community in Florida, who heard about their condition via The Filipino Channel, showered them with food and clothes, while the Filipino media gave them prominent coverage throughout the 10th International Dragon Boat Federation World Championship.

ABS-CBN has also donated P1 million to the team. “Krusada” airs Thursday nights after “Bandila.”

Oscars, Aussie version

SYDNEY—Acclaimed actor Geoffrey Rush has been appointed founding president of the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts, a new Oscars-inspired honors system for Australian film.
Gold-cast statuettes, similar to the Oscars, will be handed out each January in Sydney to coincide with the international awards season.

“You’d be an idiot if you didn’t recognize that Australian artists in front of, and in so many categories behind, the camera are among the world’s best,” said Rush, who has won Oscars, Baftas, Emmys, and Tonys. AFP

Brad sighted in Glasgow
LONDON—A smiling Brad Pitt has been seen waving at fans in the Scottish city of Glasgow as he left the set of his latest movie “World War Z.” The US actor was in town this week to shoot the zombie horror movie, which is based on a book by Max Brooks.

Paramount film studio has made every effort to keep the movie under wraps. The set is closed to all media and no production details have been released. AP

‘Conan’ template

LOS ANGELES—Jason Momoa may not be a household name from Hollywood yet, but neither was Arnold Schwarzenegger when he took on the title role of “Conan the Barbarian” in 1982.
Nearly 30 years later, Momoa could see a similar star-making trajectory if moviegoers embrace him as the new, 3D incarnation of “Conan the Barbarian,” due in theaters this weekend. Reuters

‘Belieber’ book

NEW YORK—A new nonfiction book will examine teen pop star Justin Bieber’s belief in Christianity that he has referred to in interviews and when speaking to fans.

The book, titled “Belieber! Faith, Fame and the Heart of Justin Bieber,” will be released on September 27 by Christian book publisher Worthy Publishing. It is being written by American journalist Cathleen Falsani, who has covered religious topics for several years and has interviewed well-known figures from singer Bono to President Barack Obama.

Bieber, 17, will not be interviewed for the book. Reuters
