Carla would definitely leave a gay boyfriend

“BUT IF he were my husband,” the actress points out, “it would be a different story.”

Having been to hell and back in the name of love, I  often say that the more I learn about men, the more I love gays!

But what if I were in the shoes of Lally— Carla Abellana’s character in GMA 7’s hit series, “My Husband’s Lover”—who’s married to a gay man (Tom Rodriguez as Vincent)?

Carla is very convincing in her portrayal as the distraught wife. You can’t help but empathize with Lally. Their love triangle (the third party being Dennis Trillo as Eric, Vincent’s lover) may seem askew, but it’s nonetheless real.

FEATURED STORIES

The actress has finally come into her own. As Lally, she proves that she’s more than just eye candy. Sugar and spice, yet fierce and wise! Wives (mistresses and gay lovers, too!), watch and learn!

Here’s my tête-à-tête with the woman most gays are dying to trade places with, Carla AbeLALLY-ana.

What has “My Husband’s Lover” taught you about love, marriage and gays?

That love cuts across genders. We all have the ability  to love, and we all deserve to be loved. Love is pure, selfless and true. Marriage is sacred; it was [established] by God for man and woman. However, with the growing acceptance of same-sex marriage all over the world, the true concept/purpose of marriage is changing. Unfortunately, not all are open to accept that. Lastly, gays are human beings, too. They may have different ways of professing love, but they are no different from men and women that way. They are often troubled, too, so we should respect them.

What’s your boyfriend’s (Geoff Eigenmann) reaction to your intimate scenes with Tom Rodriguez?

I’m not sure if he has seen any of those; I know for sure he has seen the kissing scenes. Sometimes we watch together. He understands they’re part of my job.

What can you say to women who suspect their partners are gay?

Get your facts straight. At the end of the day, you are still husband and wife. Only the two of you should settle the questions. Listen to, and respect, each other … If you have kids, they should be the priority.

If your boyfriend or husband were gay…?

I dread the thought! Playing Lally, I have an idea how that would feel. It’s extremely painful … If he were my boyfriend, I’d definitely cut the relationship right away. But if he  were my husband, that’s a different story. So many things should be taken into consideration. Marriage to me is sacred, so I would do whatever it takes to save it. But  then, if he believes in marriage like I do, he will have to turn things around. Otherwise, there’s no chance we could be happy ever again as a couple.

Remembering Pidol

Today being the first death anniversary of Tito Dolphy, allow me to share with readers the Facebook post of one of the comedy king’s sons, Ronnie Quizon:

“My most powerful memory of my dad [was] when he woke up [in] the ICU after  surgery and he could hardly speak. It was a  ‘read my lips’ kind of conversation. We were nose to nose and I said, ‘I love you, dad.’ His lips moved, saying, ‘I love you.’ That was the last time I heard him say those words. Even without a sound, it had the loudest impact on me.”

Hail to the comedy king! Foreigners say Pinoys are the happiest people on earth. Thanks to Pidol for his sense of humor; he elicited our heartiest guffaws. He was truly a gift from up above. Too bad, we had to return Tito Dolphy to The Sender.

Ronnie’s bashers

Still from Ronnie’s Facebook post:

“I’ve seen and heard haters/bashers while doing my villain role as Alex de Lara in ‘Dugong Buhay.’ Heck! I even get threats because of it. I just laugh it off and continue doing my job as an actor the best way I can. I have to draw the line somewhere. Using my deceased father’s name in this manner is simply offensive!

“Let me quote a basher who posted this on the ‘Dugong Buhay’ Facebook fan page: ‘Love Ejay Falcon. I hope Ronnie Quizon gets killed. He’s too ugly for television. Nothing like one of a million kids making a living off their father’s name.’

“I know I can’t please everybody and some viewers can get so engrossed [in] the show and the evil character I portray and get too personal. I can just shrug off attacks but it is totally disrespectful to drag my deceased father’s name. She even [specifies] ‘Ronnie Quizon’ and not just my character, Alex de Lara.”
