P-pop powerhouses SB19 and BINI will represent the Philippines as they are set to receive the “Voices of Asia” award at Billboard Korea’s “Billboard K Power 100” event on Aug. 27 in Seoul, South Korea.

Selected by the Philippine branch of the music publication, the P-pop groups will be given the award at the star-studded event which will be held in commemoration of the launch of Billboard Korea at the Shilla Hotel in Seoul.

The distinction celebrates SB19 and BINI’s contributions to OPM, particularly their “continuous efforts to spotlight P-pop on the global scale,” per a Billboard Philippines report.

SB19 and BINI will also perform their hit songs “Gento” and “Cherry on Top,” respectively, at the event.

The South Korea-based event highlights the “influence of Korean music, particularly on K-pop, on the global music industry.” Details on the artists who will grace the event are yet to be announced, as of press time.

SB19 — consisting of Pablo, Josh, Stell, Ken, and Justin — debuted in October 2018 with the ballad “Tilaluha.” Among their recent milestones include garnering 12 nominations at the Awit Awards 2024, winning the Billboard Fan Army Face-Off for two consecutive years for its fanbase A’TIN, the Favorite Asian Act award at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards in July, and being the first Southeast Asian group to appear on the Japanese music platform The Take.

The quintet is best known for their hit songs “Gento,” “Mapa,” “Crimzone,” “Mana,” “What?,” and “Bazinga,” to name a few. They will release their “Pagtatag!” documentary film on August 28 in select cinemas.

BINI, on the other hand, has wrapped up its “BINIverse” tour in Canada and is set to hold its “Grand BINIverse” concert in November. The group has received seven nominations at the upcoming Awit Awards, including the coveted Song of the Year and Record of the Year awards. BINI is also the first P-pop group to grace the KCON LA 2024 stage last July.

The girl group is composed of Jhoanna, Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, and Sheena. They debuted in June 2021 with the single “Born To Win,” and gained prominence after releasing the chart-topping tracks “Pantropiko,” “Karera,” “Salamin, Salamin,” and “Cherry on Top.” The female octet also dropped their first EP “Talaarawan” in March.
