Vice Ganda stressed that his recent remark, which included a mention of family problems and Olympic gold medal, was not about the highly publicized rift between Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo and his mom Angelica.

The comedian-TV host made the remark during “It’s Showtime’s” “EXpecially for You” segment on Tuesday, Aug. 20, when the show hosts and the participants were talking about family problems.

Vice Ganda then gave his two cents on the matter, saying, “Mahirap ‘yung hindi ka okay sa family.

After wishing for Ky’s healing, Vice Ganda nevertheless acknowledged that there are those who have valid reasons to distance themselves from their families.

Vice Ganda’s take on the matter was then apparently linked by netizens to Carlos’ public falling-out with his mom.

CONFIRMED. Vice supports Angelica’s side nga. I’m so disappointed in you, [Vice Ganda]. I hope Carlos Yulo doesn’t bother to guest sa ‘Showtime,'” X user @SpectatorNate tweeted.

The “It’s Showtime” host, who was seemingly taken aback by the netizen’s sentiment, then replied, “Ha?!!! Saan galing to?

Vice Ganda also clarified in separate posts that he understands the point of those who disagree with his remark. However, the TV host stressed that the viewers should have watched the full episode, and that they should not “invalidate” the other points he raised during the conversation.

Vice Ganda then expressed his gratitude to another X user, who shared the clip where the TV host was acknowledging those who really need to distance themselves from their family to “survive.”

“I don’t think it’s wrong to hope for every problematic family to resolve their issues and eventually reconcile.

Carlos and Angelica made headlines after the latter publicly expressed her disapproval of the former’s girlfriend, content creator Chloe San Jose. Angelica also admitted that she made decisions regarding Carlos’ finances, which she said was to safeguard the athlete’s future.
