Public service program host Sam “SV” Verzosa recently revisited some of the people he has helped through his show Dear SV. The program highlights the everyday struggles of ordinary people and how they remain resilient in the face of challenges.

In the latest episode, SV first visited Jayson Espiritu, a devout believer of the Black Nazarene. Jayson, who participated in the Traslacion — a religious procession commemorating the transfer of the image of the Black Nazarene from Recollect Church in Intramuros to Quiapo Church — was surprised when SV arrived at his home in Payatas. Jayson and his family make a living by sewing basahan (cleaning rags), driving a tricycle, and running a sari-sari store.

Seeing that Jayson had put previous gifts to good use, SV brought more gifts to support their business. He gave them more bags of fabric for their basahan business, additional goods for their sari-sari store, and a new cellphone for Jayson’s daughter, Jessa.

Next, SV visited Sam Flores, a teenage girl with beta-thalassemia, a blood disorder that requires monthly transfusions. Previously, SV had assisted with her medical treatment and provided a siomai cart. During the visit, SV found Sam and her family selling siomai, siopao, barbecue, and hotdogs at their stall. To support their small business, SV provided additional supplies for their food stall.

The final visit was to Lola Fedeng Villalon, an 87-year-old pedicab driver from Tarlac, who holds a special place in SV’s heart. Despite her age, Lola Fedeng continues to drive a pedicab to stay healthy and strengthen her legs. SV was delighted to see that she had wisely invested his previous gifts in cows. As a further gesture of support, SV gifted Lola Fedeng with another cow.

Through Dear SV, Sam Verzosa continues to uplift and support individuals, showing that small acts of kindness can have a lasting impact on people’s lives.

“Madaling magabot ng tulong,” SV stated, “pero mas mahirap tulungan at iangat ang sarili. May mga indibidwal kasi na maabutan lang ng kaunting biyaya ay nawawala na din ng determinasyon at pagsusumikap. Kaya sana magsilbing aral sa atin ang kwento nina Jayson, Sam, at Lola Fedeng.”
