Sheena Palad confessed that she took her “TikToClock” stint with a fellow contestant too seriously, almost to the point of hurting her, while addressing their viral incident in a statement on social media.

Palad was in the hot seat after she hit the head of a contestant named Rica Maer in a “TikToClock” segment. She briefly spoke about the incident in a Facebook post on June 20, saying she “didn’t know how to explain herself.”

A day later, she made an Instagram post detailing what happened, while making a “public apology” to Rica. The comments section is turned off, as of this writing.

“‘Beat My Birit’ is a segment on Tiktoclock described as ‘Bardagulan at Biritan.’

(“Beat My Birit” is a segment on Tiktoclock described as a battle and a singing contest. I realized that I had gone overboard and hurt Rica afterward. I said sorry to Rica right away after our segment, and until finished our shoot at night, I asked for her forgiveness.)

Palad then clarified that she and Rica are now on good terms, and the latter assured her that she’s “okay.”

Naguusap din po kami and she is assuring me that she is okay,” she said.

(Rica and I are okay now. She forgave me for what happened. We’re also in constant communication and she is assuring me that she is okay.)

In her statement, Palad also said sorry for offending netizens with her actions, while expressing her regret to the staff of the variety show as well.

(I also want to apologize to the netizens who called me out and got offended by what happened. I hurt you all, including Rica’s family, her fiancé, her friends, and her supporters. I was in contact with the staff of “TiktoClock” and I want to take the opportunity to say sorry to our bosses, director, hosts, and staff for my actions.)

Palad also shared that a discussion between the involved parties happened behind the scenes.

(We had a serious discussion with the staff of “TiktoClock” and they helped me to understand the situation. I want to thank them and I want to ask for GMA and the public’s understanding.)

Maer has yet to publicly address the incident, as of press time.

The viral incident happened weeks after Palad’s name was entangled in the FAMAS snubbing incident, which involved screen veteran Eva Darren allegedly being replaced by the rising singer as one of the presenters.
