Kapuso leading man Alden Richards will host the 2024 Miss Universe Philippines coronation show, marking his second straight year in the national competition.

“Thank you, Universe! [Starry heart emoji] ALDEN RICHARDS is back to host The Coronation of Miss Universe Philippines 2024! Watch the finals on May 22, 2024 at the SM MOA Arena,” the national pageant organization posted on social media on Wednesday, May 1.

Last year, he shared hosting chores with another Kapuso actor, Xian Lim, with 2019 Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi as special host.

For the 2024 ceremonies, Richards will be joined by 2022 Miss Universe R’Bonney Gabriel, the Filipino American sustainable-fashion designer and advocate who became the global tilt’s ninth winner from the United States.

Filipino drag superstar Marina Summers, “RuPaul’s Drag Race UK vs the World” season 2 finalist, and pop band Lola Amour were announced as the guest performers in this year’s show.

During last year’s coronation show, Richards had a slight blunder when he mistakenly announced Agusan del Norte’s Jannarie Zarzoso as Miss Congeniality, who happened to be Shayne Glenmae Maquiran from Capiz.

The 2023 competition also had an even more controversial incident. Because of an error in the tabulation, all 18 semifinalists were called back after the announcement of the Top 10 had already been made.

For the 2024 pageant, 53 ladies are competing to succeed reigning queen Michelle Marquez Dee, and earn the right to represent the Philippines at the 73rd Miss Universe pageant in Mexico later this year.
