Ailing Comedy King Rodolfo “Dolphy” Quizon was able to talk, a party-list official who visited the 83-year-old actor at the hospital said.

President Benigno Aquino on Thursday cited Dolphy’s “immense” contribution to the entertainment industry, but said it was leaving it to cultural authorities to nominate the gravely ill comedian for the national artist award as the process “should be free from politics.”

Dolphy’s wish is for a short and swift close to his long-running road show.

Actor-musician Ronnie Quizon, son of comedian Dolphy, said on Wednesday the family has prepared for the eventuality of the comedy king’s death.

Ronnie Quizon on the endless speculations about his dad Dolphy’s condition: “We need to take care of him, spend time with him. But these naysayers are robbing us of that valuable time because we have to leave my dad’s side only to correct them and clarify things.”

Ronnie Quizon’s post on Facebook caught my attention. The concerned son feels bad that erroneous reports make it seem his father, Dolphy, desperately wants the National Artist award. Ronnie says people are putting words into Dolphy’s mouth.
