A crowd gathered at the Makati Medical Center where actor-comedian Rodolfo “Dolhpy” Quizon died Tuesday evening following a long bout with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Comedy King Dolphy “has been cleared of pneumonia, but has developed infection in his body,” his family said on Wednesday.

Comedy King Dolphy was still in a “critical state, but stable,” his family said Monday night.

Dolphy underwent dialysis anew “because his vitals have improved,” the comedian’s son Eric Quizon announced Saturday, calling the development “a really good sign.”

The National Commission on Culture and the Arts (NCCA) is now processing the nomination of the seriously ill comedian Dolphy as national artist.

On father’s day last Sunday, Dolphy’s youngest daughter, singer Zia Quizon, decorated his room in the intensive care unit of the Makati Medical Center with balloons and colorful greeting cards.
