“Kalayaan (Wildlife)” won the Netpac Award for Best Asian Film in the Warsaw International Film Festival on Saturday night, its director Adolfo Alix Jr. told the INQUIRER via SMS on Sunday morning.

‘Kalayaan’ in Warsaw fest

After the Busan fest, Filipino filmmaker Adolfo Alix Jr.’s “Kalayaan (Wildlife)” will compete in the Warsaw (Poland) International Film Festival, set Oct. 12 to 21. It is vying for top honors in the international section with 17 others, including Jacco Groen’s “Lilet Never Happened” from The Netherlands, which topbills Filipino actors Sandy Talag, Marife Necesito, John Arcilla, Angeli Bayani and Antonette Garcia.

Two Filipinos indie films win int’l grants

Two Filipinos films have won grants abroad. Raya Martin’s “Nueva España” won the best film project at the Riviera Maya Co-Production Lab held in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, last March 25.
