When a TV series is about to end, its producers often have a problem: To keep viewers interested and excited for months, its plot and subplots have become so complex-compound that, by the final telecast, it becomes difficult to make sense of all those intricate twists and turns, so that the show can end on a clear and satisfyingly logical climactic note.
Dandin Ranillo, movie producer: “I read last week’s item in which Steven Dy of Cagayan de Oro posed the question, ‘Where are the Visayan movies?’ I tried to help revive the Visayan movie industry by making a film recently. But, it seems that the main problem is support—or lack of it—from theater owners and bookers, even if the lead actors are known personalities. Until now, I’m still trying to book my film.”
On “Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw,” the improbable but all-too-predictable has happened: Kris Aquino’s “meek” character has finally disobeyed her father (Tirso Cruz III) and chosen to admit her love for the principled cop played by Robin Padilla—who used to be her younger sister’s (Anne Curtis’) flame!
We made it a point to catch the first telecast of the new teleserye, “Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw,” because the possibilities of its combination of lead stars intrigued us.
Name it, Anne Curtis has done it. She has proven her worth as an actress, a concert artist, TV host and product endorser. Her face has launched a thousand products and shows.
