Just a few days ago, when I read who the coaches of the “The Voice of the Philippines” would be, I had a huge grin on my face and exclaimed “Wow!”, followed by “Holy Crap!” This is going to be something else–to bring these four artists together for a show was a little bit surreal for me. These are some of the most important–and let’s not forget the word “influential”–artists, currently. Not one coach here will feel like he or she lacks “personality” or does not deserve to be there.

Nicki Minaj does more than speak her mind. I don’t think there has ever been a judge like her in ‘American Idol’ since it was first launched in 2002. One would think she is a good thing or a welcome change for the show. But ratings have suggested otherwise and feedback from viewers are not in her favor either.

I dreamt I was walking in a long white corridor. It seemed an endlessly long hallway with many rooms on either side with Roman numerals posted on their brown doors. I could faintly hear a song being played but I wasn’t sure what it was. As soon as I entered a room with a high ceiling, the words of the song reverberated within its confines. The words became unmistakable. I was hearing the chorus of ‘”I Will Be Here” by Gary Valenciano being played over and over again. As I looked around the room, I couldn’t find Gary V. Neither could I find the source from where it was coming. It was as if it was being played from above or somewhere unseen.

Rihanna is the most overexposed artist, in my opinion. Since 2005 she has released seven consecutive studio-albums. Not only is it that each album is getting worse in terms of its creativity, but it is getting tiresome to listen to as a whole. Her songs have become droning, boring, and void of anything entertaining! Even if she gets the hottest and most sought after hitmakers to write her next latest hit, it is still the same Rihanna behind it. I hope that for the year 2013, she would take some time off to recharge and refuel her creativity. It could just work for her.

Rihanna proves to be one of the busiest pop stars around, if not the most consistent in releasing consecutive studio-albums. ‘Diamonds’ is from Rihanna’s seventh studio album entitled: “Unapologetic”. The lead single was produced by StarGate and Benny Blancco. It was written by Sia who has collaborated with Rihanna numerous times in the past. Unlike [...]

The album immediately sets the tone to having fun–and with nothing over-the-top to begin with–it has its moments of promise. There are a good number of rock-anthem songs and the typical love/hate references that are standard these days in each album release.

In one night, everything can change. That is what happened when Michael Jackson died. It has been 3 years since the “King of Pop” suddenly passed away. In the aftermath, people now have a greater appreciation and understanding of all his valuable contributions and everything he pioneered in when it came to making superb commercial and [...]
