Hooray for Green Day

When news came in recently that Green Day is one of the 15 nominees to the esteemed class of inductees for the 2015 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, it brought a big smile to my face. After all, Green Day is one of the very few remaining active bands from my youth that I had grown up listening to. A band like them will always have my utmost respect as they have faithfully and genuinely represented for decades the music scene they hail from.

Album Review: “iTre!” by Green Day

I think Green Day has already earned the right a long time ago to do whatever they want when it comes to the direction of their sound, how they want to approach the song-writing process, and if they want to experiment/incorporate any genre/music influences into each album release. Afterall, it is their album and we are the listeners/fans who purchase it. I have always found it amusing if not down right ridiculous each time you have the older fans of Green Day feuding or criticizing the newer/modern fans of Green Day. I think if you were really a fan of the band, you wouldn’t pretend to know better than the band themselves or alienate/shun the younger fans.

Remember when seeing a guitar get smashed on stage was a normal sight in foreign rock and punk concerts? Especially in the 90’s where you would get to hear the roar of the crowd? Those were some fun and exciting times.
