Gozon: GMA 7 will not release Sarah until her contract expires in 2015

GMA 7-TV 5 talks redux

After talks for the sale of GMA 7 to TV5 were terminated, the Philippine Daily Inquirer asked Kapuso chairman and CEO Felipe L. Gozon on Thursday if it was possible for the two networks to go back to the negotiation table at another time. He said: “It will be up to them (TV5)… if they submit a new proposal.” He likewise said “it wasn’t the price” that they couldn’t agree on, but “legal and commercial issues.”

‘Merger’ fallout

Apparently, GMA 7 executives themselves could no longer ignore those persistent “merger” rumors. For months now, there has been talk that TV5’s Manny V. Pangilinan has bought GMA 7. Both parties have since denied the scuttlebutt. Still aftershocks have obviously reached the top floor of the Kapuso network’s headquarters in Quezon City—so much so that Felipe L. Gozon, chair and chief executive officer, had to give his team a pep talk.
