The Court of Appeals granted the request of TV5 as it issued a temporary restraining order against the decision of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board’s decision suspending “T3,” the news and public affairs program of the Tulfo brothers on TV5.
What threat? It was only “an invitation to a fair fight.”
“T3″, a news and public affairs program on TV5, has been suspended for three months after its hosts used the program to threaten a celebrity couple who figured in a brawl with their brother at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in April.
“Why let a show suffer if one of the hosts goes berserk,” Court of Appeals Presiding Justice Andres Reyes asked during a hearing on the petition of ABC Television Corporation (TV5) against Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).
The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB)on Monday denied TV5’s request to lift the 20-day preventive suspension the ratings board had imposed on the program “T3: Kapatid, Sagot Kita.”
Describing the 20-day suspension imposed by the censors board on its public affairs program “T3: Kapatid, Sagot Kita” as beyond the mandate of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) and a threat to the “independence and freedom of the broadcast industry,” TV5 on Friday asked the Court of Appeals to stop the enforcement of the board’s decision.
Showbiz couple Raymart Santiago and Claudine Barreto are now seeking protection from a Quezon City court against threats the Tulfo brothers allegedly made against them on their public affairs show on TV5 a few days ago.
The couple filed a petition for a writ of amparo—from a Spanish term for protection—against T3 hosts Raffy, Ben and Erwin Tulfo in which they appealed for a special protection order (SPO) against the brothers.
