Not since you had the producers decide to bring together such an eclectic group of personalities and artists who are polar opposites of each other that you knew tensions would quickly rise and give way to some on-air drama. Who knew that there was legitimate “heat” between Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj? It was puzzling at first since there was no reported “beef” between the two prior to their joining the judging panel. Apparently, almost nobody knew the reality of the situation until it was out there for everybody to see and to have more than an earful of!
The ratings are down. Randy Jackson is out. Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj are still at it.
Many “American Idol” winners and runners-up are compromised by underwhelming pop tunes that are hastily waxed to cash in on postseason hubris—a lesson that isn’t lost on gravelly voiced Season Nine winner, Lee DeWyze, whose first studio album, 2010’s “Live It Up,” hardly lived up to his followers’ expectations.

Filipino-American Adriana Latonio did not make it to the Top 10 of the reality show “American Idol” in last week’s round. The 10 finalists will get to headline the show’s summer concert tour set after the finale. Colton Dixon is one “American Idol” alumnus who has taken the Christian worship music route.
