Now on its fourth week in theaters, historical epic “Heneral Luna” continues to break box office records, pushing its producers to declare it as the “highest grossing historical film of all time” in the Philippines.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, producer Joji Villanueva Alonso said that Jerrold Tarog’s film “has broken norms and patterns and the usual dwindling statistics as each week passes.”

They are also bracing for the 2016 Oscars bid of Heneral Luna, which Alonso said needs $2 million to wage its campaign.

“We continue to call on Filipinos, to help this film reach its [breakeven] point of 200M, so that the producers may have the resources to start its next film on another national hero. If you want to help some more, let us push this film further and help provide a kitty for its Oscar campaign, which needs $2M to make a decent run,” he said.
