Singer-actress Sarah Geronimo finds no need to link her romantically to fellow Kapamilya Gerald Anderson just to promote a movie.

Sarah told entertainment writers recently: “Let’s not force things to happen.” She first worked with Gerald in the March 2011 romantic-comedy flick, “Catch Me, I’m in Love” by director Mae Cruz. They are expected to make another film before the year ends.

“Love happens in its own time and pace,” she explained. “Right now, Gerald and I are okay. People who watched our first movie saw that we have chemistry. That’s what’s important.” She noted that the movie worked even without “intimate or steamy” scenes.

Sarah also said she was unaffected by stories pitting her against Angeline Quinto, first grand winner of the talent search program “Star Power.”

“Controversies are part of show business. I’m used to them now,” Sarah said. “I remember how bad I felt when I was still starting [in show biz] and was always being compared to Ate Rachelle (Ann Go, also a product of a talent search program). Every singer has her own style. It’s wrong to make artists fight just to pick the ‘better’ one.”

Not dating

Meanwhile, Gerald denied rumors that he and young actress Jewel Mische were dating. “She’s a friend. We see each other on ‘ASAP,’ but we never dated. It’s funny that people claim they saw us malling,” Gerald said during a media gathering for the Globe Superunli Alltxt promo.

He said all is well between him and former girlfriend Kim Chiu, who is now entertaining suitors. “I can’t stop guys from pursuing Kim. ’Di ko hawak ang isip nila. Kim is very beautiful, especially these days,” Gerald said. “We are in touch, but not as much as we used to be. She knows I’m always here for her.”

A leaner Gerald is set to star in the Roel Bayani drama series “Budoy,” where he plays a mentally challenged boy. To fit into the role, he had to shed 10 pounds and grow his hair long. “The story is about family, friendship and loyalty. It will make viewers cry.”
