Cannes to show Lino Brocka’s ‘Maynila sa mga Kuko ng Liwanag’

MANILA, Philippines — It’s official: Lino Brocka’s digitally restored “Maynila sa mga Kuko ng Liwanag” will premiere in Cannes Classics in May, alongside Joseph L. Mankiewicz’s “Cleopatra,” Bernardo Bertolucci’s “The Last Emperor” in 3D.

“Maynila” star Hilda Koronel on Facebook said: “We are very happy to hear this news.” She will be gracing the Cannes premiere.
