‘Harana’ wins in San Diego

Benito Bautista’s “Harana” won the San Diego Audience Award at the Pacific Arts Movement’s Spring Showcase on Thursday.

On the event’s website, critic Brian Hu described the documentary as “filled with classic songs and teeming with romantic fervor … [it] conjures history from the fields and spellbinds audiences young and old.”

On its third year, the event, which ran from April 18 to 25, featured 12 “dynamic films from eight countries from Asia and beyond.” Bayani San Diego Jr.
