Batanes dental mission

From Feb. 18 to 22 this year, Dr. William Rodriguez and his wife Joyce went on a dental mission to Batanes.
They invited their best friends, Jacinto Oscar R. Cruz, DMD, FPCOMS, a lecturer/clinical supervisor, Oral Surgery Dept. of UE College of Dentistry, and his wife, Dessa. Together, they work at their new clinic located at Suite 506 Continental Plaza, 45 Annapolis St., Greenhills (0917 628-2789 or 216-9692).
The Philippine Charity Sweepstake Office (PCSO) provided us with dental anesthesia, short needle injections and cotton balls. Our excess baggage was airfreighted free, courtesy of of SkyJet.
We served 50 Ivatans at the Basco General Hospital (BGH) dental clinic with assistance from Drs. Irma Villeta and Bernardita E. Merida.
After two days in Basco we moved to Sabtang Health Center and stayed overnight at the Sabtang Heritage House. We were assisted by Dr. Virginia Evangeline Castellon.
Next year, we plan to go in more remote areas in Sabtang. It is where the dentists feel they are most needed!
