Escudero hits back at Heart Evangelista’s parents

MANILA, Philippines – Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero on Thursday fired back at Heart Evangelista’s parents, cautioning them against using their wealth to humiliate him.
In a statement issued in Naga City, Escudero denied the allegations hurled at him by the celebrity’s parents and claimed his family is also being affected by the controversy.
“Tama ang sinabi ng isang kolumnista, malayo naman talaga na mas mayaman at mas maraming pera ang mga magulang niya kumpara sa akin. Tama din marahil ang sinabi ng magulang niya, hindi ko kayang tustusan yung luho, yung buhay na binibigay nila sa anak nila. Pero kung ano man ang meron ako, sapat yun para sa akin,” he said.
(A columnist was right in saying that I cannot match the wealth of her parents. It may be true what the parents have been saying that I cannot provide a luxurious life that their daughter is currently enjoying. But I make the most of what I have.)
Escudero said he treated Heart and her parents with utmost respect. The parents knew this but still they are keen on “keeping us and apart.”
The Team PNoy guest candidate for senator said the controversy is already causing tension in his family.
“Nadadamay na rin ang nanay ko, kamamatay pa lang ng tatay ko at parang pinapalabas na hindi ako pinalaki ng maayos at hindi rin akong tinuruan ng magandang asal,” he said.
(The controversy is beginning to affect my mother. My father has just passed away and I’m being made to appear I was not properly brought up and learned no manners.)
He said he is also a parent but he would not hurt others just to prove he care for his children.
And if he would have any conflict with a member of his family, the senator said he would keep it very private.
“Nasasaktan si Heart dito, mahal na mahal kasi niya ang mga magulang niya,” he said.
(This is painful for Heart as she loves her parents so much.)
“Pero nasa edad na si Heart. Walang puwedeng magdikta, manghimasok sinuman kung ano ang gagawin at hindi niya gagawin at kung ano ang sasabihin at hindi niya sasabihin, may sarili na siyang pag-iisip at kaisipan,” said the senator.
(But Heart is in the right age and mind and she can decide for herself without being influenced by others. No one should interfere in her affairs.)
Saying he was also hurt by the controversy, Escudero urged the public to respect the decision of his girlfriend and refrain from aggravating the dispute by making irresponsible comments.
“Sorry kung kailangan kong magsalita, paumanhin kung kailangan kong magpaliwanag ngayon pero medyo sobra na rin, at sana tama na, sana kung ano man ang gusot na ito maayos at sana hindi na masyadong madami pang madamay at masaktan sa mga nangyayari,” he said.
