The Brockas live in Sharjah
The rock ’n’ roll band The Brockas will have a one-night show in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, during the 11th Sharjah Biennial arts festival, on March 16.
Named after National Artist for Film Lino Brocka, The Brockas is composed of Filipino filmmakers and artists Lav Diaz, Roxlee, Emerson Reyes, Dan Gil, Kaloy Olavides and Khavn de la Cruz. “We will play original compositions for two hours,” said De la Cruz.
A screening of “Nitrate: To the Ghosts of the 75 Lost Philippine Silent Films (1912-1933)” will be held at the same time as the free concert.
De la Cruz described “Nitrate” as a “black-and-white silent found footage mashup of existing obscure, old Filipino films from the 1950s to the 1970s.” Bayani San Diego Jr.
