Diamond sparkle and dazzle. Because of this, they’re highly valued. Wise sages compare the living being to diamonds. Are we as beautiful and valuable? Yes, more than we see ourselves to be!
The living entity is described to be the natural spark of the Supreme Being. As such, we also possess beauty, strength, wisdom, and other wonderful qualities.
But, we’re temporarily encased in a material garment, our physical body. Our spiritual spark may be contaminated, preventing us from seeing the dazzling true beauty of our soul!
Some people mistake the external covering of the human body to be the person himself, and judge the “diamond” by the crust that covers it. But, dirt can’t penetrate its core.
The soul can also be covered by the mind. When the latter is littered with illusion and material desires, the former is covered with toxic “contaminants” such as anger, greed, lust and envy. As a result, the soul cannot manifest its true light and sparkle to others.
The process of self-realization involves removing the “crust” that covers the soul, to reveal the true value of the living being!
