Cheer Factor: 2 wins in Hawaii


Vincent Sandoval’s “Aparisyon” and Benito Bautista’s “Harana” won at the recent Hawaii International Film Festival. “Harana” won the audience award for Best Documentary, as presented by Hawaii News Now! “Aparisyon” won the Netpac Prize (from the Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema). The Netpac jury cited the film’s “courageous exploration of religious faith, guilt and forgiveness through masterful storytelling and visual imagery.”—Bayani San Diego Jr.
