Pretty Starlet insists nothing went on between her and Controversial Personality. It’s a common refrain from celebs: “We are just friends.”

Well, CP’s scandalized colleagues swear they used to see PS going up their office late at night—way past her bedtime.

PS and her handlers claim those late-night visits were totally innocent.

Perhaps PS just picked up CP, who was supposed to drive her back home? Who knew CP moonlit as chauffeur, too?

Dubious awards

Clueless Star is a little too proud of winning a questionable award. Unknown to CS, people are rolling their eyes.

Come to think of it, CS’ earlier trophy was marred by intrigues. CS purportedly won it just because Powerful Backers had pulled strings.

Reversal of fortune

DEREK Ramsay

Struggling Actor used to admire Handsome Hunk, coveting his vibrant career. Admiration soon turned to animosity.

SA and HH were caught in a minor skirmish. SA believed he was a shoo-in for a prestigious project that went to HH. Furious, SA spread a nasty rumor about HH.

Fast forward to the here and now: SA became more popular than HH, with a little help from Influential Insider.

Interestingly, II is thought to have mediated between SA and HH.

Flip-flopping

Contrary to reports, there’s persistent talk that SP is unsure about taking on Huge Project.

Is it because SP suspects it’s a demotion? No longer on top of the pecking order, SP feels that the job is a thankless chore.

Perhaps SP should wake up at once and smell the flowers, so to speak. Other big ventures have been similarly shelved and/or are taking forever in the pipeline.

KARYLLE

Or perhaps the bosses can’t ignore the fact that SP is not the most consistent performer in town and would be a liability.

Silent war

Major Star and Acclaimed Rival are always the first to point out that there’s no longer any competition between them.

Curiously, however, when AR launched a huge project, MS set a big event at the same time.

Every time, AR has something noteworthy in the works, MS would quickly churn out high-profile ventures.

To top it off, MS is now joining forces with people who are perceived to be at odds with AR’s supporters.

Not-so-silent war, anyone?

$50-M mission

LOS ANGELES—Troubled Hollywood actor Tom Cruise is suing the publishers of US magazine Life and Style for $50 million over a cover claiming he had abandoned his daughter Suri, his lawyer said.

The weekly’s July 30 issue splashed the headline “Suri in tears, abandoned by her dad,” over a picture of the sobbing 6-year-old, who has lived with her mother Katie Holmes since the shock divorce announcement weeks earlier.

Cruise’s lawyer Bert Fields called the magazine publishers “sleaze peddlers,” and said he filed a defamation lawsuit Wednesday in the US District Court in Los Angeles, seeking damages of $50 million.

The lawsuit notes that the story inside the magazine does not repeat the “abandonment” claims set out in the headline.

The story explains that, in the photo used on the cover,  Suri was in tears after being unable to take a puppy home from a pet store, not due to being abandoned by her father. AFP

Top of the bandera

The top show biz news in the Inquirer tabloid Bandera (and why we are moved if we are moved):

Basura na ang trato ng Dos kay Derek Ramsay. (But another station has recycled him, ’di ba?)

(But we’d pay good money to see that.)

(He could see it another way: Lost a brother, gained a sister.)

And well every girl should be.)

(Even if she could instigate a few world wars herself?)

GEORGINA Wilson

Georgina Wilson pinaplastik lang si Ate Guy? (But Ate Guy was tickled pink about the photo shop result!)

We feel for Cristine, too—but quite the opposite of awa.)

(Quick, let’s ask why!)

Derek payag makipaghalikan sa lalake. (It’s acting; no big deal.)

“Hindi bagay kay Derek ang maging beki!” (We’ve seen more handsome and macho-looking bekis.)

Derek, bagong GF parehong bigo sa pag-ibig. (And we may pay for that?)

(But this is not an alibi.)

(Poor craftmanship ’yan, the fans are not to blame.)

BB Gandanghari

(All in the family.)

Karylle: Ayoko pa talagang magpakasal! (E di ’wag! Who’s rushing you?)

(Maybe not exhausted enough.)
