Youngest celeb endorser of breast cancer campaign

“No one is too young to help or support this cause,” according to 18-year-old actress Sarah Lahbati, who is the new spokesperson of Avon’s “Kiss Goodbye to Breast Cancer” (KGBC) campaign.
“It’s something that I take personally because I have a family member that has breast cancer,” Lahbati said. “I can’t just stay at home and do nothing when I know that I can help.”
The Filipino-Moroccan actress related: “In the beginning, I said ‘I’m only 18. How can I possibly help?’ But then I realized that I can do something.”
For instance, she said she could buy products and participate in activities that help fund this cause. With fans and supporters’ help, she said she could also promote the crusade on Twitter and Facebook.
“These are just simple ways, but their impact is great,” Sarah said.
Sarah also emphasized the importance of having a strong female voice for the crusade.
“What I didn’t know then about breast cancer was the importance of being aware of early detection,” she said.
The star of GMA 7’s “Makapiling Kang Muli” recounted: “My cousin has stage 4 cancer. I wanted to interview her about her illness (in connection with this campaign) because I thought that would be more personal and in-depth, but she’s now in critical condition. She discovered the disease only two years ago, when it was already full-blown.”
“Everything happened so fast,” she recalled. “I never imagined that one day the disease would happen to someone close to me. The family is praying for her.”
With the theme, “Let’s Walk the Talk,” this year’s campaign features a 20-day nationwide tour that ends in SM Davao on October 25. A “Walk and Run” event will also be held today (Sunday) at the SM Mall of Asia Open Grounds in Pasay City.
