Opening This Week: ‘Santa Niña’

Directed by Emmanuel Quindo Palo; stars Coco Martin, Alessandra de Rossi, Anita Linda.

Laborer (Martin) finds the remains of his daughter in a lahar-ravaged quarry. The child’s corpse, however, is still intact—prompting neighbors to surmise that it’s miraculous. An entry in this year’s New Breed section of Cinemalaya, it was graded A by the Cinema Evaluation Board. Linda won best supporting actress in Cinemalaya.
