Inspiring recognition

RODRIGUEZ. Award for community service.

THIS year, Canadians are celebrating the diamond jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The Diamond Jubilee Medal was created to commemorate the Queen’s 60th anniversary.

Last July 5, Filipino-Canadian Joyce Rodriguez received the medal, along with other awardees.

Among the cause-oriented groups she works with are the Peel Multicultural Council, the Filipino Health and Education Foundation, and the Federation of Filipino-Canadians of Brampton.

She has spearheaded relief efforts to alleviate the plight of disaster victims here.  She continues to solicit donations for books and school supplies and ships them to rural areas in the Philippines.
