Lady goes Gaga

LADY Gaga at the MoA Arena

How can the latest wacky outfit of Lady Gaga be relevant and worthy of being called music news? It should be relegated to the fashion section instead.  It really shouldn’t be for music. I just don’t get the gist of all this gimmickry and it is not because I don’t understand what she is doing. Obviously, it is for media mileage and publicity! Well, bad publicity, in fact. Yeah, I get it… it is still publicity. All these calculated stunts and controversies she has been doing the past few years are getting tiresome. I bet she is already running out of ideas to do to seek attention or rather, her publicist is running out of ideas to suggest to her.

Hey, I have a good suggestion. Why don’t you wear a dress made up of raw meat?! Oops, she did that already. See what I mean by desperate for attention? Why doesn’t she just refocus instead on making really good pop music? Not songs made up of nonsensical lyrics and overproduced tracks with music videos, so reminiscent of the work of others. Because she is capable of that–as any genuine artist is I believe is capable of doing–and until she gets to release a new album to prove that notion, will her loyal fans be content with all of her stunts as of late???  Just release a new album and that would mean more to them and it would change some of the negative opinions around for the better.

Every career in music can’t be riddled with questions, controversies, public stunts gone wrong, and bad publicity in general. I know Madonna was like that in her heyday and prime, but she has definitely more innate talent in terms of songwriting and craftiness in making a good commercial pop record than Lady Gaga has done so far.

FEATURED STORIES

Who is to say that good pop music can’t sell without all these excessive crap that has nothing to do with music in the first place? Do fans actually end up buying your album more because of the controversies that surround the artist? Yes, a sizable portion will and they are sadly the lost souls. For them, she is as original as she can be.

But on the contrary, Lady Gaga is a bad recipe of famous past and current artists all rolled into one and the results are more of a mess of contrasting styles which leaves a bad taste in the mouth. She has a bit of Fiona Apple, a huge dash of Madonna, a pinch of Cyndi Lauper,  a generous portion of Blondie and a topping of Britney Spears which all equal into one big diarrhea of an artist!

For those who will always love her kind of music, there are still some who know better and won’t buy into the craze! Count me in!
