Brillante Mendoza wins P. Nazareno Taddei Award in Venice

MANILA, Philippines—For his recent entry “Thy Womb” at the Venice International Film Festival, Filipino director Brillante Mendoza on Sunday (Manila time) won the P. Nazareno Taddei Award (Special Mention).

The main prize in the said category went to South Korean director Kim Ki-duk’s “Pieta,” which also won the Golden Lion Award.

Established in 2007, the P. Nazareno Prize was named after a Jesuit priest.  It is given to films that “express authentic human values.”
