MANILA, Philippines—Television host Pia Guanio gave birth to a 7.8-pound baby girl via Caesarian section after midnight of August 30, the new mother herself told the Philippine Daily Inquirer in a text message.

Guanio and husband, businessman Steve Mago, named the baby girl, Scarlet Jenine, Guanio said.

“Thank you Lord for the wonderful gift in our lives,” Guanio said.

The baby, born at 12:55 a.m., was 20 inches tall, she said.

Both mother and baby are doing well, according to the text message.

Guanio married Mago in December 2011.
