Int’l premieres for 2 Filipino indies

Two films from the last Cinemalaya are preparing for international premieres. Benito Bautista’s documentary “Harana” will compete in October in the Wide Angle section of the Busan fest in Korea, and also in Hawaii.

Chuck Gutierrez’s short film “Ulian” will be screened at the Thai Short Film and Video Festival in Bangkok, ongoing till Aug. 26. Meanwhile, Jun Lana’s “Bwakaw,” Cinemalaya audience prize winner (Directors’ Showcase), was chosen by Fortissimo Films for international distribution. “Bwakaw” is headed for Toronto in September.
