Angel, Phil in ‘a courtship with chemistry’

Wherever Angel Locsin goes, the question always seems to follow: Is she in a romantic relationship with Azkals forward Phil Younghusband?
Having answered the question many times before, the Kapamilya actress laughed and blurted, “No, hindi kami!” before members of the press could throw a single question during her recent launch as Century Tuna’s newest endorser along with Phil.
‘Kilig’ stage
Angel stressed that just because she’s happy, and enjoys spending time, with Phil doesn’t mean she needs to quickly take things to the next level. At the moment, Angel describes their relationship as “parang nasa ligawan stage na may chemistry.”
“Kailangan ba kapag masaya, boyfriend-girlfriend na agad? I think na-experience naman nating lahat ’yung gusto niyo munang kilalanin ’yung isa’t isa,” she said. “Masarap ’yung feeling na kinikilig! Masaya pa kami sa ganito.”
Phil echoed Angel’s sentiments, saying they’d take things slow, since they’re still relishing the getting-to-know-you stage.
“It’s important that we don’t rush things,” he said. “We don’t want to force anything. I mean, we’re so happy at the moment and we want to stay like that. We’re still learning new things about each other.”
Love, love, love
When asked about what they love the most about each other, Phil, though he came across as a little bashful in front of the lights and cameras, couldn’t say it enough: “I love being with Angel, I love spending time with Angel, I love everything about Angel.”
For Angel, it’s inspiring to see Phil’s intense passion for football. “Naa-appreciate ko kapag nakikita mong ganu’n ka-dedicated ’yung isang tao—na meron siyang goal sa buhay.”
No gimmick
They both denied that their public displays of affection were mere publicity stunts for this endorsement deal.
Last July 3, Angel cheered for Phil and the Azkals in the team’s match against the Sri Lanka Brave Reds at the Rizal Memorial Stadium. Later that day, during the team’s victory party, the two were repotedly spotted kissing.
“’Di namin kailangang gumimik dahil hindi naman kami love team, ’di naman kami magkaka-pelikula o teleserye,” Angel said.
Meanwhile, Phil said they won’t let the rumor and other controversies affect them. “We know the truth, we know the real story, and that’s the important thing,” he said. “No matter what people say, we will always know what’s going on and what’s not.”
