Brillante Mendoza film to compete in Venice

MANILA, Philippines—Filipino filmmaker Brillante Mendoza’s “Thy Womb” is included in the main competition lineup of the 69th Venice International Film Festival, which will run from Augus 29 to September 8.

The film stars Nora Aunor, Bembol Roco, Mercedes Cabral and Lovi Poe.

The last time Mendoza competed in Venice was in 2009, with the Anita Linda-Rustica Carpio movie “Lola.”
