Dolphy’s advice to Vandolph

By

Many controversies ago, I wrote a scoop about Vandolph’s lovechild with my friend long before he met his wife Jenny. Things were still messy back then.

When I saw Tito Dolphy and Vandolph at a party, I thought Tito Dolphy would reprimand me for what I wrote. But ever the gentleman that he was, he even told Vandolph to settle matters with my friend.

Van heeded his Dad’s advice and fulfilled his fatherly obligations to Gabie, who’s now 11 years old.  His wife, Jen, loves Gabs like her own.

At the wake of Tito Dolphy, Van never left Gabs’ side and accompanied her to have one last look at her Lolo. They kept hugging each other. The father and daughter were each other’s source of comfort.

I’m happy that in my own little way I was able to pave the way for Vandolph to acknowledge Gabie’s existence. And now their bond is rock solid. I can’t help but smile because things turned out the way Tito Dolphy wanted it to be.

Celebrity slots challenge

I immensely enjoyed Pagcor’s 1st Celebrity Slots Challenge for Charity at the Airport Casino Filipino Paranaque.  As they say, if you’re unlucky in love, you’re lucky in gambling.

So since Cupid has reached his quota in my heart, I was hoping Lady Luck would be with me that night to even up the score.

The event was hosted by Bianca Gonzales and Drew Arellano. Pagcor’s VP for Entertainment Bong Quintana warmly welcomed us.  Other celeb participants were  Richard Yap aka Papa Chen, Tirso Cruz, Tonton Gutierrez, Vivian Velez, Vince and Patricia Hizon, Anthony Suntay, Pooh, Iwa Moto, Jay-R, Marina Benipayo, April Bustillo aka Congratulations, Nina Jose, Krista Kleiner, Carlos Agassi, Paloma, Keanna Reeves, Aubrey and Troy Montero.

I teased Jay-R if he’s trying to woo Krista back since they were seated together in one table.

“Nope there’s no talk of reconciliation,” he quipped. “We have a lot of other priorities but our communication lines remain open.”

I chided Iwa to have her pic taken with Papa Chen since he’s paired off on TV with Jodi Santamaria, who’s the ex of her boyfriend, Pampi Lacson. Papa Chen came with his fab wife, Melody who’s a flight stewardess.

The big winner was April, who took home P150,000 plus P200,000 for her chosen charity, Child Haus. She lived up to her monicker, “Congratulations.”

Even if I didn’t win, my first-time experience to play at the Casino was exhilarating enough to make me feel like a champ.

Light moment

A light moment during Tito Dolphy’s wake was when the dad of Boy 2 Quizon said in jest “Dumalaw na si Rufa Mae Quinto. Pero di ata sila nagpansinan ni Boy 2 kasi baka may magalit na ibang girls na dumalaw din (Ruffa Mae Quinto visited, but she and Boy 2 ignored each other because other girls who visited might get angry).” Having a great sense of humor truly runs in their family.

Kris Bernal’s b-day

Kris Bernal celebrated her 23rd birthday with a bang at Seventh High on Bonifacio High Street at The Fort. Spotted in her fete were Kylie Padilla, Bella Padilla, Chariz Solomon, Lexi Fernandez, Mikee Bustos and John Lapus.

A mini press conference was held right outside The Club of the “in” party place. Kris was surprised with a video of Aljur Abrenica sending his sweetest wishes. That sure beat all the birthday kisses combined.

PERSONAL: Thanks a mil to Lyra Marcos, Doreen Lardizabal, Raul and Anne Lardizabal for such a fun Wednesday night.

Dolly Carvajal, why is it that in most of your articles you always seem to toot your own horn (or in tagalog, nagaalsa ng sariling bangko).  Ang hilig mong makuento of what you did to make this or that artista’s life better.  You seem to forget that you’re supposed to be giving the news.  And while you do give chismis or news, you always insert something about yourself in it or a part that you played in that person’s life.  Your articles are so full of yourself.  Para kang si Kris Aquino.  I wonder why you are not BFFs yet.  Baka kasi ayaw ninyong malamangan ang isa nung isa.  You do not show yourself to be a true journalist.

She does that kasi parang her column is her diary. Its like her blog. You are your own bida in your own diary or blog…Most columnists do that, even Lea Salonga, Pat Evangelista, Rina David….where they went, who they met, what they ate, what concert they watch, how great their life is…Wala sigurong masulat masyado.

wala namang masama kung isulat mo kung ano ginawa mo sa ibang tao basta ba totoo at you inspire and serve as a good example to other, mas okay na nga na ganon kesa mga tsismis na blind item ang isulat, bakit di na lang natin gayahin na maging instrument din tayo para ang buhay ng isang tao ay mabago.
